SUNDANCE REPORT – 2017
HRAFF Program Director Lauren Valmadre gives us a brief report about her experience at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.
This year’s Sundance Film Festival once again brought the very best emerging and established independent filmmaking talent to the snowy mountains of Park City, Utah, in a celebration of unique cinematic perspectives.
Sundance is known for its highly political programming, including films exposing the most relevant and urgent issues both across America and the globe, and this year was no exception. The first day of the film festival also aligned with the latest US presidential inauguration, an undeniably profound time within American history as were the days to follow. The films at Sundance this year reaffirmed the importance and the necessity of the content we showcase here at the Human Rights Arts and Film Festival and I cannot wait to share some of these amazing stories with our audiences in May.
